The Power of Mavericks, United

Since 2020, Wear Black, Give Back has been a celebration of everything that makes UNO extraordinary. For six years, WBGB has been more than just a giving day; it’s been a movement. Mavericks everywhere have come together to create lasting change, proving that every gift has the power to transform lives. Because of you, students are reaching their goals and UNO is building a brighter future. Thank YOU for making Wear Black, Give Back a success for UNO students, research, creative activity, and community services.

Six years in, and we’re just getting started. This is what Maverick pride looks like.

“Hunger does not take breaks! Gifts made through Wear Black, Give Back ensure students have meals for the Thanksgiving and winter breaks. One student shared that she would not have had a Thanksgiving meal, let alone any food for the break, if not for this program. Your generous gift not only feeds our students’ stomachs but also feeds their success and well-being.”

- Madeline St. Clair, Maverick Food Pantry manager

“The UNO Alumni Association is grateful for every gift we receive through Wear Black, Give Back. In addition to engaging alumni and students through professional development and networking opportunities, the association awards more than $20,000 annually through its scholarship program. This financial support of 20 UNO students is made possible by your generosity.”

- Anthony Flott, UNO Alumni Association executive director

"Wear Black, Give Back expands our campus involvement, community collaboration and networking opportunities for our amazing and dedicated students. Our impact would not be so great if it weren't for Wear Black, Give Back!”

- Liz Cole, UNO Public Health Student Association president

"Study abroad is a high-impact practice that gives Mavericks the opportunity to learn more about their academic field, themselves and their world. Every donor that contributed during WBGB is helping make study abroad a reality for UNO students!”

- Emily Krueger, Global Learning assistant director
