UNO Student Organizations Info

Attention all UNO student organizations - do not miss out on one of the biggest fundraising days of the year!

Wear Black, Give Back, UNO's annual day of giving, returns on Oct. 8-9. This event is a 24-hour challenge to raise money for causes and programs at UNO – including student organizations. Last year, more than $80,000 was raised for student group programming and activities.

Wear Black, Give Back offers UNO students a unique chance to raise funds for student organizations. We encourage you to utilize social media, as well as reach out to alumni, students, parents, friends, professors or anyone else you can recruit to support this effort.

A new model:

This year, Wear Black Give Back will implement a new model for student organizations. All organizations will utilize a single giving page, with four distinct support areas for:

Donors will have the option to designate a preferred student organization to receive their donations when they make their gift. Donors will be able to write in the name of their preferred student organization on the final page of the checkout process.

Challenge prizes:

Additionally, we are pleased to announce that we have increased incentives for student organizations. This year, student organizations can earn $7,000 in challenge funds if 500 gifts are made to the Student Organization Support Fund or the four support areas. All participating student organizations will share the challenge gift if it is earned. Furthermore, $2,000 will be distributed among the student organizations in the support area that receives the most gifts. Again, those areas are student government, Greek life, sports clubs, and registered student organizations.

How to make a gift:

This simple four-step process will help you and potential supporters make your Wear Black, Give Back gift.

In the open box on the page, please indicate which registered student organization you prefer to receive the gift.

What’s next:

We will respond to all students interested in participating within a few days of registration. If you have not heard back within a week of registering, please contact givingday@nufoundation.org.
In September, you will receive a Wear Black, Give Back toolkit and a link to the respective students organizations support page (student government, Greek life, sports clubs, or registered student organizations). Once you have this link, send it to your members, your alumni, parents, friends, etc. and post it to your social media accounts with the hashtag #WearBlackGiveBack.

Fees:

Student groups are advised that any funds raised through Wear Black, Give Back are assessed a 4% processing fee. Funds raised through this giving day will be available to student groups, less fees, approximately 45-60 days after the event.
